Accomplishments

These common ambitions and commitment to local policies and planning efforts have provided domain partners with the right tools for success. Recent accomplishments include:

  • Developed and launched the COI Mini-Grant Program to support environmental-change projects that align with the COI priority strategies throughout San Diego County. Through the first round of mini-grants we invested $5,700 to support a biking for health program at two schools in National School District and an intersection mural near the Linda Vista Elementary School in Linda Vista.
  • Launched the Community Health Action Map Partners (CHAMP) to map community engagement groups that empower and train residents to make positive changes in their neighborhoods. The map currently features 19 groups throughout San Diego County.
  • Began exploring opportunities for youth involvement in the COI. Members of the UCSD Center for Community Health Youth Advisory Council spoke at the COI press conference during the release of the State of Childhood Obesity in San Diego County report and were featured on several news outlets.
  • Supported the advocacy forum, Activate Change: Stand for Health in Today’s Challenging Landscape.
