The Early Childhood workgroup is comprised of childcare and preschool providers and stakeholders committed to the prevention and reduction of childhood obesity. This workgroup assists parents, teachers, administrators, and childcare providers in the promotion of healthy nutrition and physical activity among young children. This year they are focused on the two projects below.

1. By December 31, 2025, relaunch the Breastfeeding-Friendly San Diego Recognition Program for childcare providers and develop and implement an annual training on safe sleep and breastfeeding-friendly practices, reaching at least 30 providers in the first year. 2. By October 31, launch a 5210+-based awareness campaign on safe sleep and screen time impacts, including at least 3 outreach components to reach 500 Head Start parents via the online portal and engage all 42 SD County school districts through wellness reps, telebriefings, newsletters, fairs, and committee meetings.
