Our Impact
The San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI) is nationally recognized as a model public-private partnership, funded by the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency. We work on advancing policy, systems, and environmental changes that increase access to healthy foods and beverages and create more opportunities for families to engage in safe, physical activity across the county. In 2019, the UC San Diego Center for Community Health began serving as the backbone organization for COI. Since then, COI has established a Community Council composed of trusted multicultural and multiethnic leaders who bring lived experience and community knowledge to inform and guide the Initiative’s work.
Our past impact and future goals are highlighted in the reports below.
