Brief Description: The San Diego Association of Governments in partnership with the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative and Alta Planning + Design, will be hosting a forum designed to strengthen applications for funding through the Active Transportation Program (ATP). The ATP was created by the California Legislature in 2014 with a number of specific goals: increasing the proportion of biking and walking trips in California; increasing mobility and safety for non-motorized users; reducing greenhouse gas emissions; improving public health; and ensuring that disadvantaged communities fully share in the benefits of the program. Over the past 4 years, ATP has provided more than $900 million in funding to make communities across California more bikeable and walkable. The 2018 awards will range from a minimum of $250,000 to greater than $10 million. The forum will bring together city and school district staff to walk through the application process and share local resources. Additionally, the forum is an opportunity for attendees to develop meaningful connections with one another with the goal of securing funding for Safe Routes to Schools and active transportation infrastructure and programming throughout San Diego County.

Upon completion of the forum, attendees will:

  • Increase their understanding of the ATP application process.
  • Increase their understanding of resources to support the ATP application.
  • Take part in meaningful networking opportunities between city and school district staff.

This forum is designed for engineers, planners, and school administrators/staff.
